Hypnotherapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome in Sydney
Are you wondering why you get stomach upsets?
Hypnotherapy for Irritable Bowel Syndrome in Sydney can be relieved with deep relaxation. Positive thinking can help people suffering from irritable bowel syndrome and overcome the hassles of stomach issues. The new approach uses a technique often known as positive visualisation and it involves patients imagining the digestive system as a river. A study last year at Manchester University found three-quarters of IBS patients experienced an improvement in their symptoms after hypnotherapy, and the effects lasted for five years or more. In our Sydney office, we will treat the sources of anxiety allowing the natural flow in the intestines to function.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome, which is experienced by fifteen percent of the population, affects the digestive system and can cause stomach cramps, bloating, constipation, and diarrhoea. The causes of IBS include diet changes, anxiety, depression, laxatives and anti-depressants. The hypnotherapy treatment involves weekly sessions for six weeks, during which patients are given suggestions about how they can gain control over their gut and mind connection.
IBS and Anxiety
IBS can also be influenced by anxiety and stress. When we get stressed, our bodies may not function the way it’s meant to. When we are emotionally traumatised, the energy in our body is compromised and the flow is not moving correctly. Exercise is always good to get this energy moving correctly. As we begin the process of moving the energy in our bodies, we are then able to feel more relaxed, revitalised and energised.
Anxiety and stress is the cause of many physical issues. Most issues stem from the mind first, where beliefs and patterns in the subconscious mind compromise the health of the gut. As this occurs, we manifest emotional states associated with these beliefs, creating a connection to the gut. The emotional reactions then manifest in the physical functions of the body. What the mind experiences, the body follows through as emotions and physical issues. So changing the mind and emotional states, the gut will follow through accordingly.

Do you suffer from Mental Illness or Depression?
Often these symptoms will be treated with drugs prescribed by a doctor. Anti-depressants, sleep medication, and perhaps a diet or stop smoking program will be prescribed. It’s a good idea to see a doctor first before seeing a Hypnotherapist.
For the duty of care for my clients, I need to screen potential clients for mental illness before we proceed with a session. I am not able to facilitate Hypnotherapy, Counselling, or Reiki if you have a mental illness such as Schizophrenia or Bipolar or any other diagnosed mental illness by your Doctor, Specialist or Psychiatrist.
If you are on Anxiety or Depression medication, you will need to get a doctor’s referral first before the session and bring the referral to the session. Not all people on medications and a referral can start the therapy. There will be a screening process before we proceed.
