The majority of the time, stress is the major factor in losing the ability to retain information. Mainstream science is now telling us that multi-tasking is not a natural function of the brain. Focus and attention on one thing at a time is how we manage to progress one thing and finish it, then moving to another task.
For instance, learning to remember a name is about observing the word itself, absorbing it and finding an association that will make meaning of the name and the person. Have you ever been introduced to a group of people and forget their names? Can you remember in that moment whether you tried to remember, but the information slipped away. Sometimes we may not be present and think of other things which then creates a dissociation of the present moment, and failing to recall the information. This is because we are not present and thinking either in the past or the future. Sometimes we may be in fight or flight mode, feeling very stressed and anxious and operating from the brain instinctual brain that does not have the capacity to retain information.

The aim of this therapy
The aim of this therapy is to learn to be present and become absorbed into the experience, and to feel relaxed and calm when doing so. This will help you to activate the higher mind (Cerebrum brain) to retain memory where you’re totally associated within the experience of the present moment. With Hypnotherapy, we are able to desensitise the fears and beliefs of the past and eliminate the anxieties of the future, enabling a calm and peaceful state of being present.
Fragmentation of the mind
When the mind is in many places at once, it fragments and isn’t able to retain information effectively. When your full consciousness is in focus, you integrate information enabling the absorption of information and retaining it effectively.

Do you suffer from Mental Illness or Depression?
Often these symptoms will be treated with drugs prescribed by a doctor. Anti-depressants, sleep medication, and perhaps a diet or stop smoking program will be prescribed. It’s a good idea to see a doctor first before seeing a Hypnotherapist.
For the duty of care for my clients, I need to screen potential clients for mental illness before we proceed with a session. I am not able to facilitate Hypnotherapy, Counselling, or Reiki if you have a mental illness such as Schizophrenia or Bipolar or any other diagnosed mental illness by your Doctor, Specialist, or Psychiatrist.
If you are on Anxiety or Depression medication, you will need to get a doctor’s referral first before the session and bring the referral to the session. Not all people on medications and a referral can start the therapy. There will be a screening process before we proceed.
