Hypnotherapy and its misconceptions
Hypnotherapy in our past has always been a freak show when displayed on mainstream TV. Magicians and tricksters perform their tricks on people who believe what they want to believe. The truth of the matter is that Hypnosis is just a simple focus of the mind. Hypnosis and meditation are very similar in their simplicity. The difference is with Hypnosis, you are guided by the practitioner.
My clients always say that they were in the room when hypnotized and they felt they were not hypnotized. This is so far from the truth. You are always aware of the room you are in and you are always in control. The fear of losing control is a deterrent to trance so being in a state of acceptance is paramount.
Before you seek the help of a Hypnosis therapist, ask them to explain how it works and to iron out any expectations you may have. Once this happens, you will be very surprised to find that the trance will work if you just let it happen.
