Frequently Asked Questions
Clinical Hypnotherapy and NLP
How does Hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy is simply a state of focus and internal awareness. The therapist guides you into a comfortable level of relaxation, allowing you to pay attention to your internal reality instead of external distractions. In this very relaxed state, the subconscious mind takes the lead, and the conscious mind takes the back seat. The conscious mind has a habit of thinking, over-analysing, planning, and overthinking things.
The subconscious mind works to find solutions that suit your desired outcomes. It is a deep place of information and intuitive knowledge where profound insight and changes can occur.
By utilising the skills Hypnotherapy helps you develop, you can address the physical, emotional, and psychological issues that you need to improve in your life, in a gentle but powerful way.
Hypnosis Techniques
Analytical Hypnosis (Clinical Hypnotherapy) is about the cause of a particular problem. Ericksonian approaches are more conversational and metaphoric. TimeLine therapy is about exploring life timelines of the past for resolving, desensitising, and reframing issues associated with beliefs, emotions, patterns, and distorted memories. Cognitive approaches tend to be focused on cognitive distortions and beliefs of the mind, using CBT approaches for change. Hypno-Psychotherapy is a therapy that incorporates NLP and Counselling approaches such as Gestalt, Humanist, and Mindfulness techniques. Depending on your issues and what you want to achieve, these techniques will be carefully selected and used in treatment. Some people are better with solution-focused approaches, and some need to resolve past issues for resolution, reframing, and letting go.

A Person-Centred and solution-focused approach to healing
The Clinical Hypnotherapy and NLP in Sydney approach is mainly associated with a humanistic and existential therapy model. Your journey of change is all about your inner authentic self, which always encourages the process of self-re-discovery. You are always guided by the present solutions and jolted into the future for answers. The future self is more real than you think. In this future state, you access all your solutions. Imagine that you have already made the change, and all you are doing is listening to your highest self and finding the answers to make the change. The practitioner will listen to your needs and help you find solutions and empowerment. This existential therapy approach proposes that a person may have an absolute essence, which uncovers their true and unchangeable nature. However, the idea in Existentialism is that we can change how we think, feel, and ‘be’ as a human being. What we stand for, our values, desires, and lessons in life, can be discovered, reframed, and put into action.
The idea here is that once we know our issues, we self-realise what we want as a goal to implement these changes. This is the holy trinity of creation. ‘Causal’ is where we reframe the origins of our issues, giving birth to new feelings associated with the reframed ‘Causal’. Once our feelings are changed, which are the causal effects, our behaviours manifest as a change in the world around us. Behaviours are our actions, projected into the outside world and other people. ‘Causal’ is absolute and masculine. Feelings are subjective, internal, and feminine. And new behaviours are the reborn son of feelings as actions in the outer world.
What happens in Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy that uses positive suggestions to change thoughts, feelings, and behaviour subconsciously.
The process aims to alter our consciousness by relaxing the conscious part of the mind while simultaneously stimulating and focusing the subconscious part. This heightened awareness, reached using skilled relaxation techniques, allows the therapist to make appropriate suggestions.
Is Hypnotherapy Safe?
Yes, Hypnotherapy is safe. You will naturally only take in helpful, positive suggestions that work to support your desired outcomes, and you can easily reject anything that doesn’t fit that mould.
Hypnotherapy is not mind control. In Hypnosis, you cannot be made to do anything against your will or do something against your standard of morality or ethics. It is a collaborative process between you and the therapist, and only suggestions that support your well-being and desired outcomes will be offered, for your subconscious mind to choose to take up, or not.
What is trance?
A trance is an effortless and natural state. It is entered when the physical body sleeps while the mind stays awake. Very simply, the frequency of brain waves changes in response to the changed level of mental activity.
The less mental activity, the deeper the level of trance. Normal levels of consciousness cause a lot of bioelectrical activity, which is associated with the awake activity of the surface mind, called the beta level. Changes in brain-wave activity are measurable with an electroencephalograph, or EEG, machine.
The human brain has two halves and two hemispheres, each associated with different physical and mental functions and abilities. The left side of the brain is the rational and logical problem-solving part, while the right is the more emotional, creative, and intuitive part. The trance state causes these two hemispheres to begin working together, synchronising more strongly than they can in the normal waking state.
The more time spent in the trance state, the stronger the bioenergetic connections between hemispheres become, and the more easily the two hemispheres can work together. While the two hemispheres are linked, the mind becomes calmer, stronger, more whole, and balanced.
Before and after your trance sessions
Before your session, eating a light meal is essential. Make sure you eat light meat and nothing too heavy. Try not to drink too much water before the session. When in a trance, especially the LBL, you don’t want to be distracted by needing to go to the bathroom. You can drink as much water as possible during and after the session. You work with intense energy during the trance, so your body will be very much etheric. So, you may be dehydrated. After sessions, you mustn’t use any machinery that could be dangerous.
Take the time to relax and reflect on your experience. Avoid socialising and spend that evening just relaxing. Drink plenty of water and ground yourself back into a physical reality by walking or just getting outside. Breathe in the air and avoid any stressful situations. It is about integrating back into the physical plane. One easy way to do this is to pick up some rocks and hold your breath deeply.
Will I remember everything?
You will consciously remember everything you want or need to remember about the session. Most people can remember everything about a session. Your subconscious mind is where all Hypnosis is remembered without you being aware.
Will I get confused and stuck in Hypnosis?
You cannot get stuck in Hypnosis and easily come out of the relaxed state any time you choose. Hypnosis is not sleep. During Hypnosis, you are awake and aware of what is happening throughout. It is like being at the movies, where you are engrossed in the story and emotionally engaged with the characters and drama unfolding simultaneously. You are fully aware that you are sitting in a movie theatre surrounded by people and that you can get up and leave any time you want.
In the same way, in Hypnotherapy, your conscious mind is aware of everything that is going on; at the same time, your deeper levels of consciousness are doing some work for you, tapping into the wisdom within.
The History of Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis has been around for a long time. Hieroglyphics from the Tomb of Isis in ancient Egypt show worshipers experiencing hypnotic sleep. In ancient Egypt, the correct term is “curing sleep.” A priest or ruler placed people in a condition, and illnesses were treated by suggestion. Primitive societies used hypnotic phenomena throughout the ages for physical and spiritual benefits. Tribal drums and ritualistic dances have been a part of many societies in Africa and South America. Kings of middle-aged Europe would touch commoners with remarkable results. Priests and ministers would use a laying-on of hands to effect changes in their church members.
Currently, clinical evidence supports the efficacy of Hypnosis for physical and mental health. It suggests that Hypnotherapy increases the effectiveness of other medical or psychological therapies that a person undertakes.
Currently, Hypnosis is used for pain control, childbirth, dentistry, stress reduction, elite sports training, and many other applications. In Australia, it is increasingly common to find general practitioners, psychologists, dentists, and allied health care professionals who either use or recommend Hypnotherapy in their treatment protocols.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Hypnosis can work for most individuals, but some are more susceptible to suggestions than others. The most important thing to remember is that you must be fully committed to the process and feel that you can trust your hypnotherapist. Openness is also essential, as scepticism may subconsciously affect your susceptibility.
Anyone who can concentrate and become intently absorbed in something can experience Hypnotherapy. Some people find it easier to enter the various levels of relaxation faster than others, but nearly everyone can reach the required states of relaxation and receptiveness. Even light levels of trance can create powerful change on a subconscious level, and people often find that their experience of trance deepens over several sessions.
There are a few exceptions to this, and Hypnotherapy is contraindicated for people suffering from certain psychiatric illnesses, such as Schizophrenia or bipolar depression, and those people who have dementia.
Past Life Regression
Hypnoenergetics Past Life Spiritual Regression
This form of therapy is tremendous energy and fantasticality through Hypnotherapy. It is a therapy model that works with a three-part process.
It works by using energy through the timelines of our lives and energy in our bodies. As we visualise and sense new ways to heal and release negative energy, we can dissolve it or transform it into new healing energy. We can bring this energy into our body, releasing negativity. This is effective for several things, such as pain, anxiety, self-identity, relationships, lack of energy, motivation, and confidence.
You will visit past lives, alternate lives, soul groups, multidimensional realities, interdimensional realities, and many other realities that show signs of binding and links associated with emotional negativity. We can release these links with people, places, and lives, enabling us to move forward with clarity, confidence, and peace. It is all about learning. Once we know, we move on to the next lesson.
This therapy is used with Hypnotherapy and Reiki Healing. Our bodies are made of energy, and we can effectively increase our energy levels, making us feel more radiant, relaxed, and energised. Please inform us of your issue with this therapy, and we can tailor the treatment to suit your condition.
With Spiritual Regression, we will work with the past, Present, and Future. This is the process of releasing energy. Then, the Present is integrated, allowing the third stage of moving forward into the future. All this therapy involves energy, whether it’s integrating, releasing, or transforming. It involves a three-part process. Here are the stages.
What is Past Life Regression? Is it safe?
Past Life Regression is tapping into your deep unconscious, allowing you to retrieve memories and information associated with feelings and emotions. The memhe therapy process aims to access the feeling of this past lifetime to gain wisdom and lessons, move back into the Present, and move forward. It is not about returning to re-experience the memory; it is more about extracting the learning from that experience, allowing you to leave traumatic emotions behind and take the teachings into your current life and future. It’s like time travel.
You go into the past to view the experience from a dissociated state, and change how you look at how you experienced it, which can change the course of history up into your present state. It’s like reframing the way you see things in a more holistic way or universal (cosmic) way rather than from a two-dimensional way. With my therapy, you can have the option to also go into between-lives when you are a spiritual being between lives. You can be without a body for a long time, so it is an amazingly fulfilling experience with extensive information that can benefit your spiritual growth. Think of it as being connected to the internet. Once you tap into this dimension, you can retrieve information about your spiritual self. Once you have visited this place, it always feels like home, and it will change your life forever. Once you visit it, you will have a connection with your life.
This therapy is very safe. Once you experience these dimensions, you will feel invigorated entirely after the session. It will lift your spirit and raise your vibration. It is about being able to keep this high vibration this high in every day of your life. Meditation, yoga, nutrition, energy healing, and many other exercises can be beneficial to keep this vibration up and healthy. I always say…. your vibration is as healthy as your home surroundings. If you can create a beautiful and peaceful home environment, you can move out into the world in a clear, centred, and calm manner, enabling yourself to be fully relaxed and at peace.
To be able to change our lives, we need to clean out the inside of ourselves. Sometimes we hold garbage that must be lifted from deep within our unconscious mind; we then bring it into our subconscious with trance work and our awake conscious awareness. This is the goal; when we reach this, we face the things holding us back and release them. Once we release them, we can move forward. And let me tell you, this experience is nothing short of bliss. And very profound.
Past-life regression has become a very popular topic in society today. Belief in reincarnation dates back as far as 4000 BC. The idea of regressing to a past life to help you progress, heal, or even better understand your present life is a fantastic insight. It is spoken of daily on television talk shows such as “Oprah”, in movies such as” Belladonna,” in newspaper and magazine articles, and on the radio.
Reincarnation is the belief that a person’s consciousness or soul survives death and returns to be reborn into many different physical bodies and lives to learn and grow. For the soul to truly evolve, it must experience many lives in various races and social classes, creating a balancing process that generates compassionate acceptance of all souls. The purpose of karma is not to punish ourselves or each other but to learn and allow our souls to live in harmony with each other and the Universe.
Many books are available on the subject; each one seems to put its twist on it. Perhaps you have read books about Past Life Regression, such as Dr Brian Weiss’s” Many Lives, Many Masters” or the famous book “Search for Bridey Murphy” written in 1956 by Morey Bernstein. Or “The Search for Past Lives” by Australian, Peter Ramster, “You Were Born Again to be Together” by Dick Sutphen, and “Five Lives Remembered” written in 1968 by Dolores Cannon. These books all document case studies of people who have regressed through time to re-experience a past life. Many of my clients have researched their past life personalities and found them in the archives and history books.
Australian psychologist Peter Ramster created a television documentary 1983 called “The Reincarnation Experiments.” The documentary took him and his clients worldwide, where they found extraordinary evidence of their past lives.
Four of his clients were homemakers who had never left Australia before and had, under a trance, come up with all sorts of details and names of people and places. They were taken to Western European countries where they said they had been living in the 18th and 19th centuries. Before their arrival, in 1983, Ramster and local historians searched archives, looking for and finding the names given in Australia. Similarly, villages and hamlets mentioned under Hypnosis were found on old maps. Some of these settlements no longer existed, yet some of the names given turned out to be correct.
The most interesting case is Gwen McDonald, who said she was Rose Duncan in Somerset, England, at the end of the 18th century. She described various details in England that appeared correct when researched, such as the location of stepping stones. Ramster writes: “Short of some other explanation to the contrary, I have come to believe in the truth of both life after death and reincarnation.” The investigation of the McDonald case was witnessed throughout by Dr. Basil Cottle of Bristol University. Peter Ramster’s research has almost entirely been ignored by the scientific community.
Learning about your Past Lives is interesting, but can also be life-changing, especially if you can research your past. It’s a way to discover if friends, family members, or lovers have shared other lifetimes with you. Love is the most potent force in the Universe; nothing, not even time or death, can separate those who have formed a deep bond. Lovers from the past often reincarnate within the same time frame again and again, although they may not remember who they are when they meet, they will feel a magnetic attraction.
What Happens in a ‘Past Life Regression’ Session?
Our clinic rooms are located on the ground floor and are comfortable. We have super comfy chairs that help you feel safe and relax completely. We explain the process and discuss what you would like to deal with. You will be guided into Hypnosis, a relaxed state like the feeling just before you fall asleep or are fully awake.
You will not be asleep or unconscious, as this is not Hypnosis.
Your mind will be alert and hear everything said to you, although you may not remember the session once you are fully awake. Being in this relaxed hypnotic state allows access to your subconscious mind, where all your past life memories are stored.
In a past life, we can go backward or forward, like rewinding a movie, gathering information, and looking for dates, places, and names. Many clients like researching and have found their past life characters on genealogy websites. Once we have gathered lots of information, we then move to the last days and moments of that life, where death is viewed in a detached, objective way. A guide or loved one often waits once the soul has left the body.
You may discover, clarify, or clear any soul agreements made that no longer serve you. Fears, habits, phobias, wealth, and health issues can be anchored in our distant past and stored in our energy field, forming inner conflicts and health problems in this life, once any issues disappear.
If you think about it, one single lifetime is equivalent to only one scene in a play! The therapeutic goal of PLR therapy is to restructure our understanding of our current life in the light of our extended experiences from other lifetimes. When we have only one lifetime on which to base our interpretations, it is like trying to understand the theme and plot of a play when we have only one scene to go on.
What Happens in a ‘Life Between Lives Soul Regression’ Session?
‘Life Between Lives Regression’ moves beyond the physical body after death. You could call it the afterlife. This is a place that we return to when we pass on. Some people call it eternity. Others call it ‘home’. It is a place of rest. It is a place of reflection, spiritual growth, and rest. The afterlife could be described as a dream state. When we dream, the afterlife could be compared to a dream-like state. A place where our consciousness reflects our psychological state when we pass on. This is a critical point to address. What we process in our lives is a mirrored reflection of what manifests in our spiritual psyche.
The awake, conscious mind works at deciphering what the dream-like states are trying to tell us. When we lucidly bridge our awake conscious mind with our dreams, we can evolve, grow, and resolve the many complex issues plaguing us in our minds. Lucid means becoming fully aware and integrating the conscious and the unconscious. In this Life Between Lives Regression, we visit or connect with this aspect of ourselves. It is not separate from us. It is not higher than us. It is just an aspect of what we are.
This spiritual connection can be with us all the time. In a trance, we can connect with the energy we are a part of. We can ask questions about this aspect, such as who we are, our soul’s purpose, our soul family on earth or off-world, other incarnations, spiritual elders, ancestors, deceased loved ones, and other things we want to know. In this state, you can also find information about the planetary history, the future, and the Akashic records. The Akashic records are the universal and planetary records of everything that has ever happened, every thought, history, and future potential. Remember, everything happening and will happen has always existed outside time and space in the causal etheric planes. This is the state of mind consciousness before material effects manifest into existence. This is a beautiful therapy, and every person on this planet is encouraged to tap into this dimension.
What questions should you ask in a ‘Past Life Regression’ or ‘Life Between Lives Soul Regression’?
The most important thing is to understand what you are connecting with. Once you know what you’re connecting with and how to connect, you can ask the right questions. With past life, you connect with a deep aspect of your higher self. This higher self is a part of a collective mind, a mind far beyond our earthly existence, yet so very close to it. Your different personalities on many timelines and dimensions are other aspects of your most divine higher self, which is a part of a group collective of souls. This group of souls is called the ‘soul group’. An aspect or a percentage of that energy from this collective is ignited within your mother’s embryo at a stage of your growth.
Our relationships with other soul group members are arranged before birth to learn an aspect of ourselves we haven’t quite explored yet. The trap is that some of us will repeat the lessons because we don’t take the time to learn what we came here for. The learning process is when we are alive, not when we exist in the afterlife. Our realisation and awakening need to be experienced in the flesh. The time is always now.
This is the process of mastering being alive, literally. However, in the ‘In between lives’ afterlife, we can learn aspects of who we are, our purpose, who we have incarnated with, other personalities, connecting with loved ones and family ancestors, and connecting with our guides. Guides are beings that have been alive just like we have and have reached a level of consciousness where they are now learning and evolving through helping others develop. Guides can be our deceased family members, ancestors, or people who have incarnated with us. Usually, someone who loves and cares for you. They will help us only when we ask for help.
Understanding they are not here to be at our beck and call is essential. The process is about self-empowerment, helping oneself, and being responsible for one’s actions is encouraged. This is very strongly encouraged through my therapy. Through this therapy, the questions are about self-empowerment, personal growth, and purpose. The idea is to find what is uncomfortable in your life. It may be associated with a family member, place, phobia, or anxious emotions. Some people would like to clear anxiety, depression, or some blockage they can’t resolve. Your questions will be arranged around people, places, and emotions associated with your current condition or state.

My ‘Past Life Regression’ training was completed at the ‘Hypnoenergetics Academy’.
I have been trained at the ‘Hypnoenergetics Academy’ for ‘Past Life Regression. This is Past Life Regression training at its best. Based on the pioneering research of Michael Newton, PhD., author of the books’ Journey of Souls’ and ‘Destiny of Souls’. Michael Newton is a pioneer of the mysteries of past life using Hypnosis Regression. Dr. Newton’s research represents thousands of PLR and LBL cases spanning his lifetime. All his clients came from different cultures, races, and belief systems, but all experienced past life phenomena with surprising similarities.
The Toni Reilly Institute and the Hypnoenergetics Academy offer the highest standard of training for authentic PLR spiritual regressions, and a strict code of ethics and standards of practice governs members. Only certified hypnotherapists who have completed Clinical Hypnotherapy courses can be certified in ‘Past Life Regression’ therapy and undertake ‘Life Between Lives Regression’ training.
Misconceptions about Past Life Regression
The other point I would like to make is the misconception of how people will see and receive their information. Hypnotherapy is how we experience the Alpha/Theta brain waves of unconscious communication. This is where we communicate with the unconscious and then into a universal superconscious mind, where deep relaxation is required. Now, some people expect a complete technicolour vision just as they see through their human eyes. When your eyes are closed, you are not visualising with your human eyes anymore, you are using your mind’s eye (Third eye – Pineal Gland).
Some people with Past Life Regression can be very disappointed because they don’t see the unfolding of their past life, just like they see something on a TV screen. You must work on relaxation before you can get into that deeply relaxed state. There are no magic wands. You are the master and healer of your destiny, and you have the power to change it.
Think of your brain as a radio transmission receiver that picks up the Universe’s waveform energy moving around us like mobile phone signals. Quantum Physics postulates that all energy is in a waveform within the zero-point field; all that could happen and has happened exists there. We then collapse this waveform of infinite potentialities with our focused consciousness and create the reality we experience. So, in Truth, we are the creators of our reality, including our future, because our future isn’t fixed. If it were fixed, we wouldn’t have the choice to collapse the infinite decisions the nature of our universal reality gives us. This is why we speak of God as being endless.
Once relaxed, you will use imagination to decode what your superconscious mind is telling you. You can then easily communicate with it and give it new ways to behave, changing belief patterns and feeling states that are limiting us. The more creative you are, the greater your chance of transforming your unconscious mind to work for you. This is how the poets of this world work through their issues, through expression. When we move into a past life, we explore through the emotional feeling state we want to clear. Eliciting states is very important in this process.

Reiki Healing
What is Reiki? Is it safe?
Reiki is a Japanese stress reduction and relaxation technique that promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, one is more likely to get sick or feel stressed; if it is high, one is more capable of being happy and healthy.
The primary purpose is to raise the vibration and energy shifting through the mind and thoughts, enabling the energy body to function more fluently. The Chakra system emanates energy in 7 different body parts from the base of your spine to the top of the head. Energy flows up through this light body system. When this life force energy isn’t flowing correctly, parts of our body become ill from this lack of life energy. This energy runs through all living things. If one of these seven chakras is blocked, the organs in that area will begin to show signs of illness and disease. With Reiki, the therapist will find this blockage and allow universal channelled energy to run through them and into the client, enabling this energy flow to unblock it. It is like a bent hose, and the water builds up. It needs to be released so the energy can disperse throughout the body.
Reiki is all about energy, but sometimes, the mind stops this life force energy from flowing freely. With my therapy, we will find ways to relearn new healthy habits and thinking processes, invigorating how you see yourself and the world around you, and enabling you to free unwanted emotions. The mind is the first place where physical problems manifest. What the mind feels, the body will follow.
Reiki is very safe. It is so gentle that it could never harm anyone. Knowing that the only thing that could hurt you is your rapport with the therapist is essential. If you are comfortable with the therapist, healing is within your reach. It’s spotless, simple, and very effective.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes, your session is entirely confidential, and my Duty of Care as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist requires that I maintain your records confidentially as set out by Professional Body guidelines.

The client and therapist deserve a safe, conducive space for change and healing. For more information, please click on the following link… Code of Ethics and Practice.
Is a referral necessary?
No, a referral from a doctor is not necessary. However, it is advisable to consult a doctor to establish or rule out any medical causes or conditions involved in the issues presented. Sometimes, a hypnotherapist can consult your doctor (with your consent) to discuss your treatment plan. If you are currently receiving any medical or psychological treatment, please bring any information you feel might be pertinent to your session. The only case when a referral is required is when the hypnotherapist may believe the therapy may interfere with the process and healing of the client. Or if the client is on medications for depression. It is essential to be very honest about your mental health status.
Do you have a Mental Illness or Depression?
Often, these symptoms will be treated with drugs prescribed by a doctor. Anti-depressants, sleep medication, and perhaps a diet or stop-smoking program will be prescribed. It’s a good idea to see a doctor before seeing a Hypnotherapist.
For the duty of care for my clients, I need to screen potential clients for mental illness before we proceed with a session. I am not able to facilitate Hypnotherapy, Counselling, or Reiki if you have a mental illness such as Schizophrenia, bipolar, or any other diagnosed mental illness by your Doctor, Specialist, or Psychiatrist.
If you are taking Anxiety or Depression medication, you will need to get a doctor’s referral before the session and bring it to the session. Not all people are on medications; a referral can start the therapy. There will be a screening process before we proceed.
