How does Hypnotherapy work?
Hypnotherapy is simply a state of focus and internal awareness. The therapist guides you into a comfortable level of relaxation allowing you to pay attention to your internal reality instead of external distractions. In this very comfortable state, the subconscious mind takes the lead and the conscious mind takes the back seat. The conscious mind has a habit of thinking, over-analysing, planning and overthinking things.
The subconscious mind works to find solutions that suit your desired outcomes. The subconscious mind is a deep place of information and intuitive knowledge where profound insight and changes can take place.
By utilising the skills hypnotherapy helps you develop, you can address the physical, emotional and psychological issues that you need to improve in your life, in a gentle but powerful way.
Analytical Hypnosis (Clinical Hypnotherapy) is about the exploration of the cause of a particular problem. Ericksonian approaches are more conversational and metaphoric in nature. TimeLine therapy is about exploring life timelines of the past for resolving, desensitising, and reframing issues associated with beliefs, emotions, patterns and distorted memories. Cognitive approaches tend to be focused on cognitive distortions and beliefs of the mind using CBT approaches for change. Hypno-Psychotherapy is a therapy that incorporates NLP and Counselling approaches such as Gestalt, Humanist, and Mindfulness techniques. These techniques will be carefully selected and used in therapy depending on what your issues are and what you want to achieve. Some people are better with Solution Focused approaches and some people need to resolve past issues for resolution, reframing, and letting go.

A Person-Centred and solution-focused approach to healing
The Clinical Hypnotherapy and NLP in Sydney approach is mainly associated with a humanistic and existential therapy model. Your journey of change is all about your inner authentic self which always encourages the process of self re-discovery. You are always guided by the present solutions and jolted into the future for answers. The future self is more real than you think. In this future state, you will be able to access all of your solutions. Try to imagine that you have already made the change and all you are doing is listening to your highest self, and finding the answers to make the change. The practitioner will listen to your needs and help you find your own solutions and empowerment. This existential therapy approach proposes that a person may have an absolute essence, which uncovers they’re true and unchangeable nature. But the idea in Existentialism is that we can change the way we choose to think, feel, and ‘be’ as a human being. What we stand for, our values, desires, and lessons in life can be discovered, reframed, and put into action.
The idea here is that once we know what our issues are, we self realise what we want as a goal so we can put these changes into action. This is the holy trinity of creation. ‘Causal’ is where we reframe the origins of our issues, giving birth to new feelings associated with the reframed ‘Causal’. Once our feelings are changed which are the effects of the casual, our behaviours manifest as change in the world around us. Behaviours are referred to as our actions in the world, projected into the outside world and other people. ‘Causal’ is absolute and masculine. Feelings are subjective, internal, and feminine. And new behaviours are the re-birthed son of inner feelings as actions in the outer world.
What happens in Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a form of complementary therapy that utilises the power of positive suggestion to bring about subconscious change to our thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
The process itself aims to alter our state of consciousness in a way that relaxes the conscious part of the mind while simultaneously stimulating and focussing the subconscious part. This heightened state of awareness – reached using skilled relaxation techniques – allows the therapist to then make appropriate suggestions.
Is Hypnotherapy Safe?
Yes, hypnotherapy is safe and you will naturally only take in helpful, positive suggestions that work to support your desired outcomes. You can easily reject anything that doesn’t fit with that.
Hypnotherapy is not mind control. In hypnosis, you cannot be made to do anything against your will or do something that is against your own standard of morality or ethics. It is a collaborative process between you and the therapist, and only suggestions that support your wellbeing and desired outcomes will be offered, for your subconscious mind to choose to take up, or not.
What is trance?
A trance is a very simple and natural state of being, the state entered when the physical body goes to sleep while the mind stays awake. Very simply, the frequency of brain waves changes in response to the changed level of mental activity.
The less mental activity, the deeper the level of trance. Normal levels of consciousness cause a lot of bioelectrical activity, which is associated with the awake activity of the surface mind, called the beta level. Changes in brain-wave activity are measurable with an electroencephalograph, or EEG, machine.
The human brain has two halves, two hemispheres, each side associated with different physical and mental functions and abilities. The left side of the brain is the rational and logical problem-solving part, while the right side is the more emotional, creative, and intuitive part. I believe the trance state causes these two hemispheres to begin working together, synchronising more strongly than they are able to in the normal waking state.
The more time spent in the trance state, the stronger the bioenergetic connections between hemispheres become, and the more easily the two hemispheres can work together. While the two hemispheres are linked, the mind becomes calmer, stronger, more whole and balanced.
Before and after your trance sessions.
Before your session, eating a light meal is important. Make sure you eat a light meat and nothing too heavy. Try not to drink too much water before the session. When in trance, especially the LBL, you don’t want to be distracted by needing to go to the bathroom. During and after the session, you can drink as much water as you like. During the trance, you are working with very intense energy so your body will be very much in an etheric state. So you may be dehydrated. After sessions, it is very important you don’t use any machinery that could be dangerous.
Take the time to relax and reflect on your experience. Avoid socialising and just spend that evening just to relax. Drink plenty of water and ground yourself back into a physical reality by taking a walk or just get yourself outside. Breathing in the air and avoiding any stressful situation. It is about integrating back to the physical plane. One easy way to do this is to pick up some rocks and hold the breath in deeply.
Will I remember everything?
You will consciously remember everything you want or need to remember about the session. Most people are able to remember everything about a session. Your subconscious mind is where all hypnosis is remembered without you being aware of it.
Will I get confused and stuck in Hypnosis?
You cannot get stuck in hypnosis, and you can easily come out of the relaxed state at any time of your choosing. Hypnosis is not sleep. During hypnosis you are awake and aware of what is happening throughout. It is just like being at the movies, where you are engrossed in the story and engaged emotionally with the characters and drama unfolding, but at the same time you are fully aware that you are sitting in a movie theatre surrounded by people, and that you can get up and leave any time you want.
In the same way, in hypnotherapy, your conscious mind is aware of everything that is going on, and at the same time your deeper levels of consciousness are doing some very important work for you, tapping into the wisdom that is within.
The history of Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis has been around a long time in history. Hieroglyphics from the Tomb of Isis in ancient Egypt show worshipers experiencing hypnotic sleep. In fact, in ancient Egypt, the correct term is “curing sleep.” A priest or ruler placed people in the condition and illnesses were treated by suggestion. Primitive societies used hypnotic phenomena throughout the ages of physical and spiritual benefits. Tribal drums and ritualistic dances have been a part of many societies in Africa and South America. Kings of middle age Europe would touch commoners with remarkable results. Priests and ministers would use a laying-on of hands to affect changes in their church members.
In the present time, clinical evidence supports the efficacy of hypnosis for physical and mental health. It suggests that hypnotherapy increases the effectiveness of other medical or psychological therapy that a person undertakes.
Currently, hypnosis is used for pain control, childbirth, dentistry, stress reduction, elite sports training, and many other areas of application. In Australia, it is increasingly common to find general practitioners, psychologists, dentists, and allied health care professionals who either use or recommend hypnotherapy in their treatment protocols.
Can anyone be hypnotised?
Hypnosis has the capacity to work for the majority of individuals but some are more susceptible to suggestions than others. The most important thing to remember is that you must be fully committed to the process and feel that you can place your trust in your hypnotherapist. It’s also important to keep an open mind, as any skepticism may subconsciously dampen your susceptibility.
Anyone who can concentrate and become intently absorbed in something can experience hypnotherapy. Some people find it easier to go into the various levels of relaxation faster than others, but nearly everyone is capable of reaching the states of relaxation and receptiveness required. Even light levels of trance can create powerful change on a subconscious level, and people often find that they’re experience of trance deepens over several sessions.
There are a few exceptions to this, and hypnotherapy is contra-indicated for people suffering certain psychiatric illnesses such as schizophrenia or bi-polar depression, and those people who suffer from dementia.
Hypnoenergetics Past Life Spiritual Regression
This form of therapy is an amazing energy healing modality through the process of Hypnotherapy. This is a therapy model that works with a three-part process.
It works by using energy through the timelines of our lives and energy in our body. As we visualise and sense new ways to heal and release negative energy, we can dissolve it or transform it into new healing energy. We can bring this energy into our body allowing the release of negativity. This is effective for a number of things such as pain, anxiety, self-identity, relationships, lack of energy, motivation and confidence.
You will visit past lives, alternate lives, soul groups, multi-dimensional realities, inter-dimensional realities and many other realities that will show signs of binding and links associated with emotional negativity. We are then able to release these links with people, places and lives enabling us to move forward with clarity, confidence and peace. It is all about learning. Once we learn, we move on to our next lesson. This is how we evolve spiritually as well as a species.
This therapy is used with Hypnotherapy and Reiki Healing. We are made of energy in our bodies and we can increase these levels of energy in an effective way. Enabling us to feel more radiant, relaxed and energised. For this therapy, please inform us of what your issue is and we can tailor-make the therapy to suit your condition.
With Spiritual Regression, we will work with the Past, Present and Future. This is the process of release using energy release. Then the Present is integrated allowing the third stage of moving forward into the future. All of this therapy involves energy, whether it’s integrating, releasing, or transforming. And involves a three-part process. Here are the stages.
What is Past Life Regression? Is it safe?
Past Life Regression is the process of tapping into your deep unconscious allowing you to retrieve past memories and information associated with feelings and emotions associated with past memories from a past life. The process of therapy is to access the feeling state of this past lifetime in order to gain the wisdom and lessons and move back into the present, move forward. It is not about going back to re-experience the memory, it is more about extracting the learning from that experience allowing you to leave traumatic emotions behind and take the teachings with you into your current life future. It’s like time travel.
You go into the past to view the experience from a dissociated state, change the way to look at what you experienced, they are able to change the course of history up into your present state. It’s like re-framing the way you see things in a more holistic way or universal (cosmic) way rather than from a 2 dimensional way. With my therapy, you can have the option to also go into between lives when you are a spiritual being between lives. You can be without a body for a long time so it is an amazingly fulfilling experience with extensive information that can benefit you in your spiritual growth. Think of it as being connected to the internet. Once you tap into this dimension, you are able to retrieve information about your spiritual self so easily. Once you have visited this place, it always feels like home and it will change your life forever. Once you visit it, you will have a permanent connection with it for the rest of your life.
This therapy is very safe. In fact, once you do experience these dimensions, you will feel completely invigorated after the session. It will lift your spirit and raise your vibration. It is about being able to keep this high vibration this high in every day of your life. Meditation, yoga, nutrition, energy healing, and many other exercises can be beneficial to keep this vibration up and healthy. I always say…. your vibration is as healthy as your home surrounding. If you can create a beautiful and peaceful home environment, you are able to move out into the world in a clear, centred, and peaceful manner enabling yourself to be fully relaxed and at peace.
To be able to change our lives, we need to clean out the inside of ourselves. Sometimes we hold garbage deep within us that needs to be lifted from deep within our unconscious mind, we then bring it into our subconscious with trance work then bring it into our awake conscious awareness. This is the goal and when we do reach this, we face the things that are holding us back and release them. Once we release them, we are able to move forward. And let me tell you.. this experience is nothing short of bliss. And very profound.
The concept of past life regression has become a very popular topic in society today. Belief in reincarnation dates back as far as 4000 BC. The idea of regressing to a past life in order to help you to progress, heal, or even to better understand your present life is an amazing insight. It is spoken of on a daily basis on television talk shows such as “Oprah”, in movies such as ” Belladonna”, newspaper and magazine articles, and radio.
Reincarnation is the belief that man’s consciousness or soul survives death and returns to be reborn into many different physical bodies and lives in order to learn and grow. For the soul to truly evolve, it must experience many lives in various races and social classes and this in turn creates a balancing out process, which generates compassionate acceptance of all souls. The purpose of karma is not to punish ourselves or each other, but to learn and give our souls the opportunity to live in harmony with each other and the universe.
There are many books available on the subject, each one seems to put its own twist on it. Perhaps you have read books about Past Life Regression such as Dr Brian Weiss, ” Many Lives, Many Master” or the famous book “Search for Bridey Murphy” written in 1956, by Morey Bernstein. Or “The Search for Past Lives” by Australian, Peter Ramster, “You were Born Again to be Together” by Dick Sutphen, “Five Lives Remembered” written in 1968 by Dolores Cannon. These books all document case studies of people who have been regressed back through time to re-experience a past life. Many of my clients have researched their past life personalities and found them in the archives and history books.
Australian psychologist Peter Ramster created a television documentary in 1983 called “The Reincarnation Experiments” that took him and his clients across the world where they found amazing evidence of their past lives.
Four of his clients were housewives who had never left Australia before and who, under a trance, had come up with all sorts of details, and names of people and places. They were taken to Western European countries where they said they had been living in the 18th and 19th centuries. Prior to their arrival, in 1983, Ramster and local historians searched archives, looking for and finding the names given in Australia. Similarly, villages and hamlets mentioned under hypnosis were found on old maps. Some of these settlements no longer existed, yet some names given turned out to be correct.
The most interesting case is Gwen McDonald who said she was Rose Duncan in Somerset, England, at the end of the 18th century. She described various details in England that appeared correct when they were then researched, such as the location of stepping stones. Ramster writes: “Short of some other explanation to the contrary, I have personally come to believe in the truth of both life after death and reincarnation.” The investigation of the McDonald case was witnessed throughout by Dr. Basil Cottle of Bristol University. Peter Ramster’s research has almost completely been ignored by the scientific community.
Learning about your Past Lives is interesting, but can also be life-changing, especially if you are able to research your past. It’s a way to find out if friends, family members, or lovers have shared other lifetimes with you. Love is the most powerful force in the Universe, nothing, not even time or death can separate those who have formed a deep bond. Lovers from the past often reincarnate within the same time frame again and again, although they may not remember who they are when they meet they will feel the magnetic attraction.
What Happens in a ‘Past Life Regression’ Session?
Our clinic rooms are located on the ground floor, comfortable, and we have super comfy chairs that help you to feel safe and relax completely. We explain the process to you and also discuss what you would like to deal with. You will be guided into hypnosis, which is a relaxed state similar to the feeling just before you fall asleep or before you are fully awake.
You will not be asleep or in an unconscious state as this is not hypnosis.
Your mind will be alert and hear everything that is said to you, although you may not remember the session once you are fully awake. Being in this relaxed hypnotic state allows access to your subconscious mind, this is where all your past life memories are stored.
When in the past life we can go backward or forward like rewinding a movie, gathering information as we go, we look for dates, places, and names, many of our clients like to do the research and have found their past life character in genealogy web sites. Once we have gathered lots of information we then move to the last days and moments of that life where the death is viewed in a detached objective way. Often once the soul has left the physical body there is a guide or loved one waiting.
You may discover, clarify, or clear any soul agreements made that no longer serve you. Fears, habits, phobias, wealth, and health issues can be anchored in our distant past and stored in our energy field, forming inner conflicts and health problems in this life. Once cleared any problems often disappear.
If you think about it, one single lifetime is equivalent to only one scene in a play! The therapeutic goal of PLR therapy is to restructure our understanding of our current life in the light of our extended experiences from other lifetimes. When we have only one lifetime on which to base our interpretations it is like trying to understand the theme and plot of a play when we have only one scene to go on.
What Happens in a ‘Life Between Lives Soul Regression’ Session?
‘Life Between Lives Regression’ is the process of moving beyond the physical body after death. You could call it the afterlife. This is a place that we return to when we pass on. Some people call it eternity. Others call it ‘home’. It is a place of rest. It is a place of reflection, spiritual growth, and rest. The afterlife could be described as a dream state. When we dream, the afterlife could be compared to a dream-like state. A place where our consciousness is a reflection of our psyche state when we pass on. This is a very important point to address. What we process in our lives is a mirrored reflection of what is manifesting in our spiritual psyche.
The awake conscious mind works at deciphering what the dream-like states is trying to tell us. When we lucidly bridge our awake conscious mind with our dreams, we are then able to evolve, grow, and resolve the many complex issues plaguing us in our minds. Lucid means to become fully aware and to integrate the conscious and the unconscious. In this Life Between Lives Regression, we visit or connect with this aspect of ourselves. It is not separate from us. It is not higher than us. It is just an aspect of what we are.
This spiritual connection can be with us all the time. In trance, we are able to connect with this energy that we are apart of. And we can ask this aspect questions like who we are, what our soul’s purpose is, who our soul family are on earth or off-world, other incarnations, spiritual elders and ancestors, deceased loved ones and any other things that you would like to know. In this state, you are also able to find information about the planetary history, the future and the akashic records. The akashic records are the universal and planetary records of everything that has ever happened, every thought, history, and future potential. Remember, everything that is happening and will happen has always existed outside time and space in the causal etheric planes. This is the state of mind consciousness before the effects of material manifest themselves into existence. This is a beautiful therapy and every person on this planet is encouraged to tap into this dimension.
What questions to ask in a ‘Past Life Regression’ or ‘Life Between Lives Soul Regression’?
The most important thing is to understand what you are connecting with. Once you are aware of what you’re connecting with and how to connect, then you’re able to ask the right questions. With past life, you are connecting with a deep aspect of your higher self. This higher self is apart of a collective mind, a mind far beyond our earthly existence yet so very close to it. Your different personalities on many timelines and dimensions are different aspects of your most divine higher you which is a part of a group collective of souls. This group of souls is called ‘soul groups’. An aspect or a percentage of that energy from this collective is ignited within your mother’s embryo at a stage of your growth.
Our relationships with other members of our soul group are arranged before birth in order to learn an aspect of ourselves we haven’t quite explored yet. The trap is that some of us will repeat the lessons because we don’t take the time to learn what we came here for. The learning process is when we are alive, not when we are existing in the afterlife. Our realisation and awakening need to be experienced in the flesh. The time is always now.
This is the process of mastering being alive, literally. However, in the’ ‘In between lives’ afterlife, we can learn aspects of who we are, what our purpose is, who we have incarnated with, other personalities, connecting with loved ones and family ancestors, and connecting with our guides. Guides are beings that have been alive just like we have and have reached a level of consciousness where they are now learning and evolving through the service of helping others evolve. Guides can be our deceased family members, family ancestors, or people who have incarnated with you in the past. Usually, someone who very much loves and cares for you. They will help us only when we ask for help.
It is important to understand that they are not here to be at our beck and call. The process is about self-empowerment, helping oneself, and being responsible for your own actions is encouraged. This is very strongly encouraged through my therapy. Through this therapy, the kind of questions to ask is all about self-empowerment, personal growth, and purpose. The idea is to find what it is in your life that is uncomfortable. It may be associated with a family member or a place, a phobia, or anxious emotions that are associated with something. Some people would like to clear anxiety, depression, or some blockage they just can’t resolve. Your questions will be arranged around people, places, and emotions associated with your current condition or state.

My ‘Past Life Regression’ and ‘Lives Between Lives Soul Regression’ training was completed at the ‘Toni Reilly Institute’.
I have also trained at the ‘Institute of Hypnoenergetics’ for ‘Past Life Regression. This is Past Life Regression training at it’s best. Based on the pioneering research of Michael Newton, PhD., author of the books ‘Journey of Souls’ and ‘Destiny of Souls’. Michael Newton is a pioneer of the mysteries about past life through the use of Hypnosis Regression. Dr. Newton’s research represents thousands of PLR and LBL cases spanning his whole lifetime. All his clients came from different cultures, races, and belief systems but all experienced past life phenomena with surprising similarities.
The ‘Toni Reilly Institute’ and the ‘Institute of Hypnoenergetics’ have the highest standard of training for authentic PLR spiritual regressions, and members are governed by a strict code of ethics and standards of practice. Only certified hypnotherapists who are trained with Clinical Hypnotherapy course can be certified in ‘Past Life Regression’ therapy which is then able to undertake ‘Life Between Lives Regression’ training.

What is Reiki? Is it safe?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is administered by “laying on hands” and is based on the idea that an unseen “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The main purpose is to raise the vibration and energy shifting through the mind and thoughts enabling the energy body to function in a more flowing way. The Chakra system emanates energy in 7 different parts of the body from the base of your spine right up to the top of the head. Energy flows up through this light body system. When this life force energy isn’t flowing correctly, parts of our body become ill from this lack of life energy. This energy runs through all living things. If one of these seven chakras is blocked, the organs in that area will begin to show signs of illness and disease. With Reiki, the therapist will find this blockage and allow universal channeled energy to run through them and into the client enabling this flow of energy to unblock this blockage. It is like a hose that is bent and the water builds up. It needs to be released so the energy can disperse throughout all of the body.
Reiki is all about energy but sometimes the very thing that is stopping this life force energy from flowing freely is the mind. With my therapy, we will work with finding ways to relearn new healthy habits and thinking processes, invigorating the way you see yourself and the world around you and enabling you to free unwanted emotions. The mind is the first place where physical problems manifest. What the mind feels, the body will follow.
Reiki is very safe. In fact, it is so gentle that it could never harm anyone. It is important to know that the only thing that could be of harm to you is your rapport with the therapist. As long as you are comfortable with the therapist, then healing is within your reach. It’s very clean, simple and very effective.
Are the sessions confidential?
Yes, your session is completely confidential, and my Duty of Care as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist requires that I maintain your records confidentially as set out by Professional Body guidelines.
Code of Ethics and Practice
As a therapist, we are responsible for offering the highest quality services and following the codes of conduct in line with the law. The client also has rights. The client and the therapist both deserve a space that is safe and conducive to change and healing. For more information, please click on the following link… Code of Ethics and Practice.
Is a referral necessary?
No, a referral from a doctor is not necessary. However, it is advisable to consult a doctor in order to establish or rule out any medical causes or conditions involved in the issues presenting. In some cases, a hypnotherapist can consult with your doctor (with your consent) to discuss your treatment plan. If you are currently receiving any medical or psychological treatment please bring to your session any information you feel might be pertinent. Only cases when a referral is required is when your the hypnotherapist may believe the therapy may interfere with the process and healing of the client. Or if the client is on medications for depression. It is very important to be very honest about your mental health status.
Therapy can not be facilitated if you suffer from Mental Illness?
For the duty of care with my clients, I need to ask before we proceed with a session. I’m not able to facilitate Hypnotherapy if you have a mental illness such as Schizophrenia or Bipolar. If you are on Depression medication, you will need to get a doctor’s referral first before the session.
Some Private Health Funds give rebates for Clinical Hypnotherapy
Currently, a number of private health funds provide rebates for Clinical Hypnotherapy. If you belong to a private health fund we recommend that you check with your fund regarding your eligibility to claim on Clinical Hypnotherapy. There are some health funds that do not cover hypnotherapy at all whilst some others only rebate the services of a registered psychologist who practices Hypnotherapy.
As there are many health funds with varying levels of cover we cannot be expected to know whether you are able to claim or not so we encourage you to check with your fund. If you find you can claim then we are able to provide you with a health fund receipt at the end of your appointment and you can then make your claim directly to your fund as we do not have Hicaps. Because the practitioner is apart of the ASCH Association which is affiliated with some private health funds, you will then be able to claim a rebate. NOTE: Only Clinical Hypnotherapy is covered by some Private Health Covers. Past Life Regression and Reiki are not covered by Private Health Cover.
At present Clinical Hypnotherapy is not covered by Medicare (Bulk Billing).
Our details are lodged with various participating health funds by the Australian Society of Clinical Hypnotherapists (ASCH). If your health fund does not currently include hypnotherapy then please lobby your health fund directly so that you and other members of your fund can enjoy hypnotherapy rebates.
